Vote Ken Reid for State Senate Nov. 7…Tackle crime, poor schools, high tolls on I-66 and taxes on cars and grocery bags
September 2023
Dear voter:
Do you feel like politicians take you for granted? They assume you’ll support them because your heritage without ever asking what YOU care about. I won’t do that. I am Ken Reid and I want you to vote for me for Virginia State Senate because I care about the same important things you do and will get what you want done.
I have served on the Leesburg Town council, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and now am on the Fairfax County Landlord/Tenant Commission. Election is Nov. 7 and early voting began Sept. 20.
I have a long record of working with ALL my constituents and helping Latinos on issues that matter.
Our shared concerns are not being handled by the Democrats (or my very extreme leftist opponent). The Democrats have one-party control and they take Latino votes and support for granted. They expect you to vote for them and offer you no representation in return.
I will work for YOU on these important issues:
• Make housing more affordable: The cost of housing is especially high for immigrant families and their children. Gov. Glenn Youngkin has put forth a plan to make housing more affordable, but there has been no action by the General Assembly. I pledge to help build more affordable apartments and homes in our communities.• Schools and Parent Involvement: Schools and teachers should inform parents about the curriculum and any policy changes that affect their kids. We must teach children how to think, not what to think. I raised twins in public schools; my Democrat opponent has no children. We depend on the success of our schools to provide opportunity for our children and prosperity for our communities. • Making us all safe: Our safety is top priority. We should fund Community Police Partnerships and fight soft on criminal measures. The Democrats now allow $950 in shoplifting theft before it becomes a felony. This encourages crime and threatens our safety. We must be tough on criminals while protecting our residents. • Fighting controlling and irritating taxes: The tax on cars and trucks is increase and needs to be reformed! In addition, the Democrats gave authority to counties to impose a 5 cent tax on plastic bags, but it is a nuisance and discriminates against poor people. It also is not working. About 57 million bags are still going into the garbage dumps, based on 2022 statistics. If elected, I will support legislation to get rid of this tax and reform the car tax.

"I got to know Ken Reid well and he was helpful in my campaign for Attorney General. He will support our police and prosecutors and law and order. We need State Senators who will support the law and victims’ rights, not criminal rights. Ken has always supported our police and sheriff's deputies. I am happy to endorse his candidacy." -- Jason Miyares, first Latino Attorney General of Virginia
• Lowering gas prices, tolls and utility bills. The state required 3 people in a car to use the I-66 and 495 toll lanes for free, and so few are using it and traffic congestion is bad. I am investigating a rebate on tolls and allow HOV-2 at a discount. Dominion Power has raised our utility bills to meet “clean energy” mandates the Democrats enacted. We need to roll these back or our gas and electric bills will keep going higher. I pledge to support changes in the law to save consumers money. • Expanding community health and access to doctors: Many folks are still unable to find a doctor that will accept Medicaid or Medicare, or they are between jobs. Virginia should expand community health centers and clinics to serve these folks, and we can do it without raising taxes.
What my opponent stands for….
My opponent, Saddam Salim is a far Left extremist He supports radical indoctrination in the public schools including introducing sexual education to students as young as 5 (but he has no children of his own). He opposes helping our police – which has led to a crime wave in Northern Virginia – and supports high taxes. He wants high utility bills to achieve “sustainability.”
Many immigrants came to America for a better life, but now, the Democrats are adopting collectivist socialist policies that will hurt our quality of life. We have to stop them.
I humbly request your assistance with my campaign by mailing the card below using the envelope enclosed or online at www.KenReid.org. And, request a yard sign or hold an event where I can meet voters.
With your support and vote we can save Virginia from the failed policies that hurt Virginia families and businesses.
Thank you and God bless!
Sincerely
